ALPINE CHALET CHIC AT THE SMALL LUXURY HOTEL SET AGAINST AN AWESOME MOUNTAIN AND NATIONAL PARK BACKDROP IN THE IDYLLIC VILLAGE OF GROSSARL
THE STORY
The evening sun casts a glow over the mountains, the magnificent scenery invites you to stop and admire, you enjoy the pure, exquisite peacefulness. You step inside the welcoming GROSSARLER HOF, a sanctuary of Austrian warmth, style and individuality, leaving your cares behind. Your first evening is spent in the atmospheric vaulted cellar, at a rustic wooden table with your host, sommelier Markus Andexer and his exceptional collection of wines.
Dawn breaks and despite your evening of drinks and laughter, you’re feeling fresh and effervescent – it must be the mountain air! You step out onto the balcony, watch the trees sway in the wind and enjoy every sip of your morning coffee. Whatever time of year, every day is a great day for exploring! In winter you can’t wait to get skiing or ski touring through Austria’s largest ski region, Ski amadé. In summer and autumn the Hohe Tauern National Park and ‘Valley of Alpine Meadows’ await… You opt for an e-bike to aid your travels. You whoosh past forest streams, ride up and down the cycling paths, and stop for a picnic amidst the beauty of nature. Bliss.
You arrive back at the GROSSARLER HOF in time for an afternoon of pampering in the Erlenreich Relax & SPA. You treat your body to a snow crystal peeling, the white sugar crystals melt on your skin like snow and leave it feeling soft and supple. Feeling totally at ease, you return to the comfort of the room and take a pre-dinner nap…

The 49 rooms and suites at the GROSSARLER HOF present an attractive alliance of form and function: spacious, comfortable and inviting spaces finished with a discerning eye for detail. Natural materials abound: reclaimed wood, luxurious loden and pure linen – traditional, elegant and modern design that expresses the hotel’s extremely high standards.
Every room offers intricate carpentry and wooden flooring, a gorgeous bathroom and a balcony. Suites also include stereo equipment with an iPod and MP3 adapter, and a Nespresso coffee-maker.
The GROSSARLER HOF’s cuisine is faithful to the culinary traditions of the Pongau region, and Head Chef Walter Viehhauser is famous for creating traditional game and venison dishes with a dash of contemporary inspiration.
The hotel boasts two fabulous dining areas. In the stylish restaurant – all wooden panelling and a lovely tiled stove so typical of the region – guests enjoy the GROSSARLER HOF’s ‘almost’ full board of breakfast, afternoon Jause and a four-course evening meal. Or there’s the rustic Jagastub’n, the best à la carte restaurant in the Grossarl Valley. Award-winning and highly recommended!
The superb wine cellar is home to a host of fine wines, amongst them many an Austrian gem that may be unfamiliar, but well worth getting to know. The hotel hosts regular wine tastings and events in this atmospheric, vaulted space.
