In a majestic Kaiser mountain setting on the Thiersee Valley’s high plateau, discover a special place of healing: the European Ayurveda Resort Sonnhof. This is the pioneering centre of European Ayurveda® – a unique blend of Ayurvedic expertise, complementary medicine and medical diagnostics harmonised with European needs, lifestyle and eating habits.
GP and naturopathic medicine specialist Dr Alaettin Sinop, Ayurveda specialist Gaurav Sharma and the Sonnhof’s expert team adapt the ancient Indian healing art of Ayurveda to western lifestyles. European Ayurveda® is based on three pillars: diagnosis & treatment, Ayurvedic nutrition, and Yoga, mind detox & spirituality.
The resort offers an extensive range of cures and programmes including AyurDetox, rejuvenation weeks, Panchakarma – the ‘queen’ of Ayurvedic treatments, and Ayurveda in combination with complementary and conventional medicine. European Ayurvedic cuisine – the resort’s own culinary brand – is fundamental to treatment and meal plans are tailored to Dosha types. Ayurveda’s nutritional principles are adapted to European tastes using locally sourced or regional produce, as well as free-range eggs, honey, herbs, seasonal vegetables and fruit, turkey, lamb and beef supplied by the Sonnhof’s own Lindhof farm.
30 rooms and suites offer ‘Tyrol meets India’ décor, the AyurvedaCentre’s extensive wellbeing
facilities include a panoramic indoor pool, energy fountain, heat therapy, themed saunas, infrared heat cabins, fitness room, peace room, meditation room, Ayurveda lounge and rooms for treatments and consultations. Outdoor facilities include the garden of five elements, areas for quiet meditation, rest or Yoga practice, and a natural pond, bird table and herb garden.
